Life is PAIN! The arthritis has been crippling lately and I am going to try drinking Apple Cider Vinegar, a shot every day. Maybe a shot glass twice a day. It seems to help with the indigestion. That seems strange. It is acetic acid. You might think it would make acid stomach worse, but it helps.

I started the year at size 54 and I am down seven centimeters from 142 to 135 cm and I have gone from XXL shirts to XL. I have punched three new holes in my belt. That's only losing eight Kilograms. That is the equivalent of a twenty centimeter cube of matter off my body. I like expressing it that way. I hope my imaginary cube will increase from twenty to thirty centimeters over the next year. Then I will be down 27 Kilograms.

I weighed in at 293.2 on the "good scale" today. Essential 133 Kg.

Only 53 Kilograms more to lose.

It is October the first and I just weighed in at 294.4 pounds. That's down 17 pounds for the year. Less than two pounds per month. I am now 46 % body fat. I want to lose a lot more weight and I am planning on losing four pounds for October. I really want to be down twelve kilograms for 2012.

WOW! It is September already and I have not been posting to my blog.

The good news is I am off of gluten! I went low gluten at Thanksgiving and that did not seem to make any difference. I drank a beer every Friday and had a little pizza every month. Well it seems that beer has gluten in it! It's not just the chewy breads that have the gluten so thick you can feel it. I am doing a much better now. I have been gluten free since June 2012, and I am losing weight. I have punched three new holes in my belt this year (2012) and my psoriasis is clearing up and I have not had any more arthritis flare ups. Unfortunately the joint damage is not healing very quickly. My left hip is still bad. Everything else is slowly healing. My knees are better, my shoulder is better, but my right hand still has swollen knuckles and limited flexability and a weakened grip.

I can swim but I have not been out on the bicycle. I hope to change that soon. I am only averaging about fifteen minutes of exercise per day. I really hope to increase that once my hip heals a little more.

Merry Christmas to me.

I haven't posted for too long. The great news is I have made a major breakthrough. There is a link between gluten and psoriasis. I am apparently gluten sensitive. I didn't use to be. I never had psoriais until I weighed 280. I thought there was a link between obesity and psoriasis. I cut back on the bread Thanksgiving week. I am now seeing some improvement in my psoriasis. This makes sense, if white blood cells live for six weeks. My arthritis has stopped progressing and my skin is slowly healing. My appetite is still fluctuating. I'm optimistic that if the arthritis heals up I'll be able to exercise more. Erik

Late

I Have not worked out for a week. It's important to listen to your body, but somedays I can't tell the difference between "I'm tired and I need to rest." and "I'm feeling lazy."

I like the Presdent's Council on Physical Fitness

I remember JFK. One of the great things he did was to start the Presidents council on physical fitness.

Metabolic Syndrome

HEY it's been awhile since I've posted anything.

I've been busy and I've made what I hope is a major breakthrough in my DELTA Program. I've been reading about Metabolic Syndrome and I may be a little bit of a hypochondriac but I have too many of the listed symptoms. I think this may be a real factor in my health problems.

If I put on five pounds a year since I've been drinking Diet Coke and Diet Coke came out in 1982 that's almost thirty years and 145 pounds. I only weigh 300 pounds. I'm thinking of switching to the metric system so I'll only weigh 137 kilograms. My all time high was 330 pounds or 150 Kilograms.

In 1974 when I was senior in high school and played on the Oak Ridge Wildcats soccer team I weighed 175 pound. When I started college in 1975 I was around 200 pounds. In college I went up to 220 pounds. In 1982 I got my diploma from Georgia Tech and weighed somewhere around 240 pounds? So I've put on sixty pounds in thirty years, or only two pounds per year. Does that sound bad?

What is fascinating is the link between Aspartame and metabolic syndrome. Some people are reporting having really bad side effects with diet soda. I'm apparently one of them. I have quit drinking aspartame and I've noticed a big reduction in my appetite. I am now satisfied with normal sized meals instead of Erik sized. I've only lost a few pounds but I'm very hopeful that I've turned the corner on my weight loss. Sometimes I even wear an XL t-shirt instead of my usual XXL t-shirts.

It took me 35 years to gain all this weight. I should be able to lose two to three pounds a month now. Would that be a year's gain lost every month?
